Editor, Georgia Coastal Youth, Inc. (a 501C3 nonprofit organization) and Seven Ministries have partnered to bring you their inaugural event, a spring walk-a-thon to raise money for the Jackie Gilliard-Henderson Memorial Scholarship. The funds raised will be used to award scholarships to Liberty County public high school seniors who want to further their education by attending college or technical school in 2012 and beyond.
The walk-a-thon is scheduled for Saturday, May 21. We will meet at 6:30 a.m. in the parking lot behind Bradwell Institute (near the baseball field), and we’ll begin the seven-mile walk at 7 a.m.
Our grand marshal this year will be Multi Agency Crack Enforcement (MACE) Commander Capt. James C. Reid.
Georgia Coastal Youth Inc., which runs youth-development and enrichment programs, and Seven Ministries, which promotes a holistic approach to life, offer a variety of programs to our community and we’re asking you to support these programs. Please make plans to join us for this worthy cause. You can participate by walking and/or making a monetary donation.
In conjunction with this fundraiser, Platinum 40/40 Social Club will sell fish and chicken sandwiches at 531 Azalea St., the Gilliard-Henderson home, beginning at 11 a.m.
Please make checks payable to Georgia Coastal Youth Inc.
Thanks and God bless.
