The 10U Hinesville Gators wrapped up their first season with a first-place win at the Savannah Recreation games, posting an impressive 8-0 record and scoring 130 total goals to the other teams’ 71. Head coach Agustin Maldonado and assistant coach Day Maldonado rotated most of their players into almost every position this season to teach them the total-team concept. This also gave all the players an opportunity to score a goal.
The Savannah Boys Cup Rules came in second place and the Piggly Wiggly Shootout team took third in the division. In the second division, the Georgia Recreation team got the wild card for state due to a goal differential advantage.
According to the Gator’s coaching staff, the team has a motto: One goal is a team goal. The coaches plan to work harder on the goalies next season so they can improve their scoring potential.
The Hinesville Gators will take a break until July when registration opens. Their first tournament is scheduled for August.
