March was National Athletic Trainers Month. As a trainer, I follow the following guidelines as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association:

My patients’ well-being is my first priority. I provide thoughtful, compassionate health care, always respecting the rights, welfare and dignity of others. As the advocate for my patients’ best medical interest, I make competent decisions based on evidence-based practice. I act with integrity. I fully understand and uphold the NATA code of ethics, providing the best possible patient care. I comply with the laws and regulations governing the practice of athletic training, and I pledge to maintain and promote the highest quality of health care.

With that said, the Annual All Sports Physicals will be conducted this on April 14 at Liberty County High School between 8 a.m. and noon. As in the past, female athletes and only male athletes, who have a school sporting, event will be seen 8-10. Other boys will be seen 10-noon. The last athlete will be admitted at 11:45 so physicals will end by noon.

We ask that at least one parent attend with each athlete so questions about medical conditions can be answered. To get an exam, all portions of the physical packet must be filled out and all appropriate signatures must be done.

Coaches will check all paperwork at the entrance.

For eighth graders who will attend either Bradwell or Liberty insure that the high school is indicated by circling it or highlighting the school name. This will insure that the paperwork gets to the correct school.

The medical and para-medical professions will volunteer their time and skill to insure that the athletes are ready to play. This year we will have physicians, family nurse practitioners and physician assistants from Liberty Regional Memorial Hospital, Bone and Joint, and Optim. We will have physical Therapist assistants, athletic trainers, and physical therapists from CORA Health, which has two clinics in Hinesville. KC Moore and her student licensed practical nurses from the Savannah Tech Hinesville branch will also offer their time.

In advance, I would like to thank all these organizations for supporting our athletes. Without you the Annual All Sports Physical would not exist. I would also like to thank all the administrators, principals, athletic directors and coaches for making this physical a success.
