Kayleigh Barnard’s single with one out in the third inning broke a tie, and she made it stand up in the circle, striking out 13 Bradwell Institute batters as Liberty County held on for a 3-2 win Monday in a non-region softball game.

Barnard gave up just three hits, all singles.

Liberty took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on Ashlynn Greenfield’s run-scoring single and Lila Wolfe’s RBI triple.

Makayla-Rose Aguon singled and scored on an error in the third, and Bradwell tied the game on another Liberty error.

But Barnard retired 13 of the last 14 hitters she faced. She also finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.

Vannessa Stewart was 2-for-3 for the Lady Tigers.

Liberty visits Toombs County on August 24 and hosts Long County on August 25. Bradwell travels to Statesboro on Thursday and visits McIntosh County Academy on August 25. The Lady Tigers make a road trip next weekend to Greenbrier before hosting Lakeside-Evans on September 3.
