Former Liberty County athlete Courtney Bennett tied the Jacksonville State program indoor record in the shot put Saturday, according to a press release on the Gamecocks’ website.

The JSU track teams were in Nashville for the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship held at Tennessee State.
According to the release, Bennett turned in a toss of 47 feet, 3.75 inches to match former Gamecock Danielle Moss’ mark in 2015. On Friday,

Bennett established a new program record for the indoor weight throw. JSU’s 20-pound weight throw record went down by Bennett with a toss of 56 feet, 9.5 feet to earn a spot on the medal stand. The sophomore from Hinesville replaced Crystal Estes’ throw of 53 feet, 4¼ inches in February 2009.

Bennett’s mark made the medal stand as she finished with a silver medal in the event.

The Gamecocks will now turn their attention to the outdoor portion of the season on March 12, hosting the Gamecock Quad at the JSU Track and Field Complex in Jacksonville, Alabama.
