Blue Tide edge out Pirates 5-4 in baseball

It took an extra inning but Long County High School edged out a 5-4 win Tuesday in a baseball game against the Brunswick Pirates.

Blue Tide Krew Jones was 2-of-4 with a single, a triple and 4 RBIS to bring the Long County team up from a 3-0 deficit to take the one run lead in the fourth inning.

The Pirates tied the game 4-4 in the top of the fifth inning.

Neither team managed to drive in another run forcing the extra inning. At the bottom of the eighth the Tide rolled home for the 5-4 win.

Ryan Desbiens was 2-of-4 with 2 runs scored. Tripp Stapleton was 1-of-3 with an RBI. Antonio Golden notched the win pitching seven innings. Desbiens pitched the extra inning.

Long County is 5-3 overall and 2-0 in Region 2-AA.

Today they host Camden County at 6 p.m.
