A late-game surge Wednesday handed the Long County High School baseball team a win over the Bradwell Institute in Ludowici.

The win broke an eight-game losing streak for the Blue Tide. The loss extended the Tigers’ string of losses to eight.

After five innings of play Wednesday Bradwell had a 5-1 lead and could smell victory. But a victory was not in store for the visitors, as the home team put up five unanswered runs over the final two inning to take a 6-5 win.

Long County’s Andrew Swindell was one of the heroes for Ludowici, slamming a home run.

With the non-region win, Long County improved to 4-14 over and 0-4 in Region 2-AAA. Bradwell is now 3-11 overall and 0-3 in Region 2-AAAAAA.

Thursday, the Tigers took on Savannah Country Day (11-4) in Savannah. And Friday, the Blue Tide faced Tattnall County (6-11) in Reidsville. Results from those games were not available for this story.
