Blue Tide, Lady Tide moving up

The Long County High School boys soccer team manhandled Brantley County Tuesday in a 10-0 victory in Ludowici.

With the win, the Blue Tide improved to 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the region. The win also moved the Long County into a first place tie in the region with Tattnall County (9-3-1 and 7-2).

Those two teams will face off Tuesday to determine which will finish the season atop Region 2-AAA. When they played earlier this year, the game went into double overtime before the Battle Creek Warriors took the 2-1 victory. The game is in Reidsville and begins at 7 p.m.

Lady Tide clinch No. 2 seed

The Long County High School girls soccer team Tuesday clinched the No. 2 spot in Region 2-AAA with a 5-1 win over Brantley County.

The Lady Herons played hard, but had no answers for freshman Porshia Cummings who had four goals. Senior Kylee Proffitt also scored for the Lady Tide.

With the win, Long County improved to 6-6 overall and 5-3 in the region.

On Friday, the Lady Tide faced Windsor Forest (6-6-1) in Savannah. Results for that non-region contest were unavailable.

Tuesday, the Lady Tide wrap up the regular season against Tattnall County (5-7) in Reidsville.
