Dec. 19 was the first day of the 2019 National Signing Day period, where athletes all over the country commit to playing at the collegiate level. Bradwell Institute watched as two of its top football players, David Spaulding and Kevin Harris, signed for a football scholarship at their respective schools. Spaulding signed with Georgia Southern as a cornerback, and Harris signed with the University of South Carolina as a running back.

Spaulding is rated as the number 86 cornerback in the country, and the number 90 player in the state, according to his Georgia Southern bio and 247Sports, and he’s ranked number 104 player in the state by Rivals. As a senior, Spaulding had 43 tackles and two interceptions. He’s going into his freshman year undecided.

Harris secured his scholarship offer to his excellent performance at one of USC’s camps, according to USC’s signing page. His 4.56 second 40-yard dash landed him the offer.

According to MaxPreps, Harris ranked 16th in rushing yardage in Georgia, with 1,680 yards, with nearly a six yard average per carry. Harris also secured 16 touchdowns.

USC was the first Power 5 offer Harris received, the site continued. It’s reported that other offers came from Air Force, Army, Navy, Cornell, Middle Tennessee, Tulane and Wofford, according to USC.

Harris is the 15th pledge for USC’s 2019 class and the first running back.
