Bradwell Institute’s winning streaks came to a screeching halt Saturday night, thanks to visiting Brunswick.
The Lady Pirates broke out to an early lead and eased past the Lady Tigers 53-38, handing the Bradwell girls their first Region 1-AAAAA defeat in the regular-season finale.
Parris Parham led Bradwell with 11 points, while Destini McLemore scored seven and Janiyah Blevins added six points.
The Lady Tigers fell to 21-3 on the season. The loss snapped an 11-game winning streak for the Lady Tigers.
Martin Davis scored 17 points for the Brunswick girls to lead all scorers and Patrice Mungin added 12 points.
The Brunswick boys rolled to a 67-48 win over the Tigers boys, ending their five-game winning streak. Bradwell had not lost seen dropping a 72-55 decision January 11 at Brunswick.
Jordan Stevens had 13 points to lead the Tigers, and Zi’on Thomas scored nine points.
The loss dropped Bradwell to 19-5 overall and 6-2 in the region.
The Tigers boys will play February 12 in the region playoffs and the Lady Tigers will play in the region semifinals February 13 at Statesboro High School.
