Former Liberty County High School track standout, Shantela' Davis helped the Kennesaw State Owl track team earn sixth place at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship last weekend.
The women put together a strong performance as they had several athletes claim medals and all-conference honors.
Davis came in second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.37. She later returned to the field to lead the 4x400 meter relay team with Caitlin German, Lakeshia Stinson and Soibhan Wolcott to a sixth place finish and a KSU record of 4:03.95. She later placed third in the distance medley relay.
Davis made an immediate impact since being added to the Owls' track roster in 2006 competing in sprints, jumps and relay events. That year she became a cornerstone of the women's program. And was chosen as the Indoor and Outdoor A-Sun Conference Champion in the triple jump.
In 2007 she garnered eight individual event school records and five relay records. After being sidelined by injury in the early part of the season she returned at the A-Sun Indoor Championship to finish in second place with a time of 56.29 in the 400-meter dash. She finished fourth in the long jump at the 2007 Indoor Conference Championship with a distance of 18-3.25ft and grabbed eighth place at Chapel Hill Invitational with a time of 25.95 in the 200-meter dash.
