The 25th annual Donell Woods Memorial Tournament for boys and girls junior varsity basketball teams begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bradwell Institute, Snelson-Golden and Lewis Frasier Middle School.
The tournament, named for former Bradwell Institute coach Donell Woods, a member of the Liberty County Sports Hall of Fame, is the only one of its kind in the area. Among the teams competing this year are squads from Bradwell, Liberty, Long, Coffee, Johnson and New Hampstead.
Woods’ former players will be honored prior to the boys championship game, which is expected to tip off around 4:15 p.m. at BI.
The tournament is free and open to the public. Brackets are on the right.

BI hoops
Bradwell Institute boys and girls swept Long County in a nonregion basketball doubleheader Saturday at BI. The Lady Tigers (11-5) won 58-25 behind 17 points from Jasmin Blevins and 16 from Esperanza Castro.
The Tigers (12-4) won 60-44 in the nightcap.
Bradwell played a 2-AAAAAA doubleheader at Glynn Academy on Tuesday.

Long County wins
Long County improved to 10-6 with a 57-34 win Monday over Appling County. Long played host to Tattnall County on Tuesday.

Liberty County
Liberty County fell to visiting Glynn Academy 85-83 on Saturday to fall to 4-7 overall. The girls lot 51-23 in the opener and are 4-9. Liberty plays at Tattnall County on Friday.
