Former Tiger makes SAC commissioners honor roll

Former Bradwell Institute Tiger football player, Jake Walsh, was among 644 student athletes who made the 2007-08 South Atlantic Conference commissioner's honor roll.
Walsh, who attends Mars Hill College in North Carolina, was recognized for carrying at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and completing one season of football. Mars Hill College was the second highest college with student athletes to make the list with 101. Newberry College led the way with 105.
Walsh joined the Mars Hills Lions football team and according to the Lion's football guide he played a big role as a special teams player for the Lions in 2007.  After spring practiced he was among the top selected players for a possible start as safety in the 2008 season. Walsh is majoring in business administration.
The Lion open their football season at Furman at 7 p.m. on Aug. 30. The game will be televised on Comcast channel CSS.
Walsh is the son of Rebecca and Jim Walsh Jr. of Hinesville.
