FPCA Track qualifies for State
FPCA Track

The FPCA track team traveled to Robert Toombs Christian Academy on Wednesday for the GISA region meet.  The Highlanders qualified for State in several track and field events.  Despite not having enough members to participate in all events, the Highlander boys team accumulated enough points to take second place in the Region.

Lady Highlanders, Vivian Hinze and Auset Gibbs, participated in the 100m and 200m ,  Hinze took 3rd place in the 100m and 2nd in the 200m.  Auset Gibbs placed 5th in both events.  In addition, Hinze took 1st place in the 400m, and 3rd place in the shot put.  Hinze qualified for the State meet in all four events.

The Highlander Men took second place in the Region with only six participants.  The relay team with Trayvon Harris, Isiah Dickey, George Mitchell, and Khalyn Weekley took 1st place in the 4x100 relay.  In the 4x400 relay Harris, Mitchell, Dickey, and Sensier Carnes placed 2nd.  In the 100m, Dickey took 3rd and Carnes took 4th.  In the 200m, Dickey placed 2nd and Carnes 4th.

Khalyn Weekley took 2nd in the 110 hurdles and Mitchell took 4th. Also, Weekley took 1st place in the 300 hurdles.  Mitchell also won 1st place in the long jump and took 4th in the high jump.  Harris came in 3rd place with the shot put  and the discus.  Brandon Attical placed 4th in the shot put.  Harris placed 1st in the 400m and the 800m.  Harris is the 2016/17 GISA champion for both events. All members of the boys team qualified for the state meet.

The FPCA track team is coached by Shane Smith.  The state meet will be held in Albany, GA at Hugh Mills Stadium on April 27-29.
