Liberty County senior guard Tyreon Freeman signed a letter of intent to play collegiate basketball at Albany State University Monday morning.
Freeman averaged 11 points a game and shot 39 percent from the floor in 26 games this past season with the Panthers, with one of his highlighted games of the year being against Thomson scoring 22 points on 7 of 18 shooting.
Liberty County went 22-6 in the 2016-2017 season and was coached by Julian Stokes. The Panthers won the Region 3A championship, and made it to the State Final Four, losing to Pace Academy in the semifinals.
Freeman said he is happy to play for a college that is close to home and is looking forward to the challenges of playing collegiate basketball in the fall. He says that he will prepare playing a faster and stronger style of play via summer workouts.
Freeman plans on majoring in sports management
