Highlander swimmers going to state

Four First Presbyterian Christian Academy swimmers qualified for the state meet after placing well at several meets throughout the swim season this year, according to first-year swim coach Jonnie Larson.
The Highlander swimmers will compete in the Georgia Independent School Association state meet Jan. 31 at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
The swimmers who qualified are:
• Cousins Xavier McCartney and Mackenzie McCartney. Xavier McCartney, a sophomore and varsity swimmer, qualified in 50-yard freestyle (26.18 seconds), 100 backstroke (1:12.06), 200 individual medley (2:32.49) and 500 freestyle (6:13.15). Mackenzie McCartney, a sixth-grader and junior-varsity swimmer, qualified in the 50 backstroke (40.96) and 100 individual medley (1:30.33).
• Brothers Will and Jackson Magan. Will Magan, an eighth-grader and junior-varsity swimmer, qualified in 50 freestyle (29.69) and 50 backstroke (39.16). Jackson Magan, a sixth-grader and JV swimmer, qualified in 50 backstroke (41.38), 50 freestyle (32.86), 100 freestyle (1:10.47), and 100 individual medley (1:23.74).
The Highlanders have their next regular swim meet Jan. 10 in Atlanta.
