First Presbyterian Christian Academy beat Appling Christian 11-1 in five innings Monday. It is the Highlanders’ second victory against Appling Christian and third straight win of the season.

FPCA was fueled by strong hits from Nathan Burriss, Steven Young, James Arnold and Luis Laboy. The Highlanders never relinquished the lead and were up 8-0 by the third inning.

Appling Christian attempted to score, but Highlander Isaiah Dickey foiled the plan. With a hit to left field, Dickey chased the ball down as the runner rounded second and third, and headed home. Dickey hit Kyle Hill at third, and Hill tossed to James Arnold behind the plate.

Arnold tagged the runner.

Young then got a strikeout to close the inning. In the top of the fifth, FPCA led 10-0. Appling Christian made some timely hits, scoring in the top of the inning and preventing a run-rule finish.

But the Highlander answered in the bottom of the inning to close the game 11-1.
FPCA plays at David Emanuel Academy on Friday.
