ALBANY -- The Albany State University women's track team is off to a good start during their 2022 outdoor season.
Among those on the team representing the Lady Rams is Hinesville native Imani Jones.
ASU opened their outdoor season on March 5 by participating in the Savannah State Tiger Relays. As a team, Albany State won three events, came in second twice and finished third in four events. Jones competed as a member of the 4x200m relay team where they finished second with a time of 1:44.63 and with the 4x100m relay team where they placed third with a run of 48.56. Jones runs the anchor leg for both units.
On March 11-12, Albany State took part in the GATA Classic which was hosted by Georgia Southern in Statesboro. The Lady Rams took second place in the event.
Jones ran in the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. The former Liberty County High standout finished fifth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 20.59 and was seventh in the 400m hurdles after being timed at 1:22.39.
Albany State will be back in action March 18-19 when they travel to Atlanta for the Emory Spring Break Classic.
