The 2017 Lady Highlanders have played their way into FPCA record book.

Currently undefeated, the Lady ’Landers hold the top spot in the region and have two games left in the regular season. Toppling the win-streak-, shutout and goals-scored-records at FPCA, the team is looking to maintain the streak and go into the playoffs at the top spot.

The Highlanders are coached by Tom Sukaratana and assisted by Sung Won Chi and Holly Buckley.

On the longest win streak in program history, the girls are 18-0 overall and 6-0 in the region. They have earned 14 shutouts, crushing the previous record of 6. Outscoring opponents 108-7, the Lady ’Landers have set the record high with two games and the playoffs left.

Last week, the Highlanders defeated region opponents Bulloch Academy and Trinity-Dublin. April 11, they won 7-0 against Bulloch. Mercedes Buckley scored 3 goals, Auset Gibbs 2, Mary Kathryn Whitney 1 and Cecilia Graham 1. Graham had 3 assists and Whitney 1. Credited in the shutout were Helana Scott, Madison Buckley, Kasey Caines, Mackenzie Buckley and Cassandra Ruff.

In the Trinity game, Mercedes Buckley notched her second hat trick of the week with 3 goals. Graham scored 2, Gibbs 1, Whitney 1 and Ruff 1.

The Highlander boys lost both game last week 8-1 to Bulloch and 5-1 to Trinity.

Up next for the Highlanders will be senior night on April 25 in a rematch against Bulloch. All senior soccer participants will be recognized.

The game will be at James Brown Park in Hinesville. The girls kick off at 4 p.m. and the boys follow.
