Liberty County hosted Wayne County in a non-region softball game Monday, but weren’t able to hold off the Yellow Jackets’ hitting barrage. The Lady Panthers lost 11-1.

Lady Yellow Jacket Shelby Surreney pitched the five-inning win. She gave up only three hits and tossed eight strikeouts.
Lady Panthers Madison Winn and Meleina Davis both had time on the rubber. Winn pitched 3 innings, netting three strikeouts. Davis pitched 1.

Liberty scored a run in the bottom of the first inning off a ground out by Alexis Barnes, which brought in Davis. The Lady Yellow Jackets were already up 3-1 and added a run in the second, two in the third and fourth and three in the fifth. Davis was one-of-two at bat for Liberty.
Liberty hosts Portal today at 5 p.m.
