Lady Panthers earn 2 region wins

Lady Panther volleyball coach Jene’ Singleton said Thursday’s back-to-back wins against Burke County and Baldwin on the road have given her players the confidence needed to work their way to the Region 3-AAA No. 1 spot.

Singleton credited the squad’s 25-8 and 25-9 wins against Burke to Catherine Scaggs. The coach said she had 24 serving points, 10 aces, two kills and six assists against Burke.

Singleton lauded Scaggs and Meisha Quarterman for the 25-17 and 25-15 wins against Baldwin.

Scaggs garnered 18 serving points, five aces, three kills, six assists and Quarterman only had three serving points, but she had a
game 12 attacks and eight kills.

"The other surprising player who stepped up their game was Geraldine Davidson with five serving points and 10 assist," the coach said.

The Lady Panthers were scheduled to play in a Beach Tournament at Glynn Academy Sept. 11-12 and will host Brunswick and Ware County on Monday starting at 5 p.m.
