Lady Panthers take first two games

Panthers vs. Portal (14-2)
The 14-2 win gave a boost of confidence as the ladies entered the tournament.
According to head coach Jerome Standard, every Panther up at bat had a hit in the game.
Cassie Standard was on the mound and completed the game with seven strike outs, allowing only four hits and walking five.
The Panthers ended the game with 14 hits and five extra base hits. Heading up the battery was Ashley McRae with a triple and 2 RBIs, Cassie Standard had a double and 4 RBIs, Elyssa Lemapu scored a double, Courtney Miles had a double and 2 RBIs and Nicole Graham had an extra-base hit and a double.
Miles ended the game 3 for 3; Cassie Standard ended with 3 for 5 and Graham went 2 for 4.

Panthers vs. Claxton (10-0)

The following day the Lady Panthers played against Claxton High School and earned their second win with a 10-0 shut out.
“Overall I’m very proud of the way the girls are playing and hitting the ball,” coach Standard said.
On the mound for game two was Chantel Breeden who struck out 10, walked four and allowed only two hits.
The Panthers committed two errors in the game.
The heavy hitters were Ashley McRae, she was 2 for 4 with a double, and Cassie Standard with 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Alyssa Lemapu went 3 for 4 with a triple and 1 RBI. Courtney Miles went 1 for 1 with a triple and 1 RBI. Nicole Graham hit 1 for 3 and had 2 RBIs.
The Panthers play again at 4:30 p.m. at Thursday Tattnall County High School.
