Lady Tide softball roll Brunswick teams

The Lady Blue Tide softball team found itself in an odd spot coming into this week after they finished 1-3 at the Tattnall County Warrior Blast Tournament last weekend. The team knew they needed to get back on track when they hosted the Brunswick Pirates on Monday, Aug. 13 and traveled to play the Glynn Academy Red Terrors on Tuesday, Aug. 14.

The team did exactly what they needed in those two games as they came out victorious to move to 4-4 on the season.

The Lady Tide avenged their season-opening loss to the Pirates on Monday when they beat the 6A school 3-1. The team repeated their defensive performance on Tuesday with another 3-1 win over the Red Terrors.

In the latter game, the Blue Tide got some excitement at the plate when senior Bailey Harrison blasted a solo home run, the first of her high school career.

The Lady Blue Tide hosted next county rival Bradwell, who were 2-0 coming into the contest, on Thursday, Aug. 16, but the game was called in the middle of the third inning due to lightning. At this time, there was no make-up date scheduled.

Long County will look to keep their two-game win streak going on Tuesday, Aug. 21 when they travel to Blackshear to take on the Pierce County Lady Bears in their first game in Region 2-AAA.
