Liberty County High School and Bradwell Institute baseball teams were in action early this week, with the Panthers facing Appling County, and the Tigers going against Effingham County in the first of a three game series.

The Panthers fell to Appling County in five innings with a final score of 14-2. They scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning with an RBI double by Ronnie Keaton to bring home Dylan Stewart, but the Pirates answered back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning. Then Appling County scored ten runs in the bottom of the second and another three runs in the bottom of the third to take a commanding 14-1 lead. Keaton came home to score off an error in the top of the fourth, but the Pirates had control through the entire game thus giving the Pirates the win in five innings via mercy rule. The Panthers recorded just three hits in game, with two from Keaton and one from Jacob Albertson.

Bradwell took a loss to Effingham County in five innings with the final score 13-0. The Rebels bats connected early in the game, scoring six runs in the first inning. They continued to add on throughout the rest of the contest with a run in the second, five runs in the third, and one run in the fourth. The Tigers recorded seven hits in the loss, but were not able to bring any runners home. Hunter Hawkins and Brennan Long recorded two hits each in the game.

Both the Panthers and Tigers look to break their losing streaks in their next game, with Liberty facing Pierce County on the road on Friday, and Bradwell taking on Effingham in game two of their three game series on Wednesday at home.
