Lady Thunder wins third at tourney

The 13U Liberty Thunder won first place Sunday in the Augusta Gold Glove Challenge. The boys beat teams out of Thomson and Statesboro to earn the first- place trophy. The team moved into third place in state in their division and is preparing for the post season, which starts in June.

Hinesville’s Lady Thunder softball team placed third at the Battle against Breast Cancer tournament last weekend at Savannah’s Allen E. Paulson Softball Complex.

The girls played five games in a row with just nine players. The players are: pitcher Cassie Standard, catcher Charlee Coursey, first baseman Stephanie Cedola, second baseman Savannah Fincham, short stop Ellysa Lemapu, third baseman Rachel Cuffy, left fielder Kanae Gordon, center fielder Suede Jones and right fielder Danielle Durham.
