Scott’s All-Stars fifth and sixth grade basketball teams placed second and third, respectively, at their first Super Regional tournament March 10-11 in Jacksonville.
Both teams qualified for a national tournament. The fifth-graders qualified at the division 2 level and the sixth-graders in division 3.
Isaiah Scott led the fifth-grade squad, averaging 11 points per game in the four-game tournament. Marcus Scott and Jalen Jackson led the sixth-graders with 12 points and 10 points per game, respectively, in three games.
“Both teams played extremely well for the little practice that we had,” coach Marcus Scott said. “The sixth-graders needed to work on team chemistry with a couple of late additions to the program. I believe we fixed those the chemistry problem this week with the sixth grade retreat this past weekend.”
Scott said coach Khari Collins had the kids prepared and did an outstanding job of coaching them to a second place finish after entering bracket play with the lowest
seed.
The sixth-graders travel to Charlotte for another tournament March 23-25, while both teams will be in Jacksonville again March 30.
