Appling County High School swept Long County in a basketball doubleheader Saturday in Baxley.

In the boys’ game, the Pirates held off the Blue Tide 61-58. The Lady Tide fell 44-21 to the Lady Pirates in the girls contest.

Long County plays host to Jeff Davis on Friday. The Tide are 5-9 and the Lady Tide are winless.

Tipoff is 6:30 p.m. for the girls. The boys game follows.
