Both Long County teams lose to Vidalia

The final buzzer couldn’t come quick enough for the Long County High School basketball teams Saturday, as both squads lost decisively at Vidalia.  
The Blue Tide lost, 94-54, and the Lady Tide fell, 60-16.
With the losses, the boys’ team had a 4-8 overall record going into this week’s action, while the girls’ team was 4-10.
According to MaxPreps.com, the current Region 2B-AA boys’ standings have McIntosh County at 2-0 (7-4 overall), Metter at 2-1 (5-6), Benedictine Military School at 2-1 (4-3), Long County 2-2 (4-8) and Bryan County at 0-2 (5-7).
On the girls’ side, Vidalia (8-4 overall), McIntosh County (7-4) and Jeff Davis (10-4) all are undefeated in the region, with the Indians sitting at 4-0 and the Lady Bucs and Jackets both 2-0. Toombs County is 3-2 in region (6-7), Long County is 2-2 (4-10) and Atkinson County is 2-2 (5-5).
The Long County teams were scheduled to host Liberty County on Tuesday. Results from those games will be in Friday’s paper.  
On Thursday, the Blue Tide and Lady Tide travel to Pearson to face Atkinson County in region action. The girls’ game begins at
6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow.
