STATESBORO — Georgia Southern surpassed last year’s football season ticket total by nearly 300 tickets, the school announced Monday.
GSU has sold 4,775 season tickets for the upcoming season, 276 more than in 2012. That represents a
6 percent increase.
With less than a week to go before Georgia Southern kicks off against Savannah State at 6 p.m. Saturday, the Eagles have already posted the largest season ticket total since 2008.
If GSU can reach 5,000 season ticket sales before kickoff, it will be the first time since 1990.
This will be GSU’s final season as a Football Championship Subdivision team before moving to the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Sun Belt Conference.
“This increase in season ticket sales shows the excitement level our fans have for the upcoming season and the move to the FBS,” Athletics Director Tom Kleinlein said. “We want to pack Paulson Stadium to show our seniors how much we appreciate them, and our new season ticket holders are helping us accomplish that goal.”
