The Hinesville Hurricanes semi-professional football team will host this year’s United Spring Football League’s All-Star Game at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Long Bell Stadium.
The game pits select players from the USFL’s North Division and South Division, much like the National Football League’s Pro Bowl.
It’s the first time the game will be hosted on the Hurricanes’ home field at Liberty Independent Troop Park.
Seven Hurricane players were chosen for the game. The selections were done by the coaching staffs of teams within each division.
The Hurricanes picked to play in the game were fullback Joe Matavao, lineman Auvae Matavao, linebacker Jamie Sharp, running back Kendrick Badger, defensive end Alfonzo Brewster, fullback Ronnie Swilling and linebacker Brad Mincey.
Hurricane coach Michael “Ice” Jones was chosen to oversee the offense, while Hurricane head coach James Sharp will coach the defense.
Admission will be $5 for adults; children 12 and younger get in free.
Current high-school football players for Bradwell Institute, Liberty County High School, Richmond Hill High School, Long County High and First Presbyterian Christian Academy will receive free admission with proof they are on the roster.
