Lady Tide fall to Toombs, Wayne

The Long County High School girls’ basketball team fell last week in its two opening games.
In their first game of the season, the Lady Tide dropped a 35-31 decision Nov. 17 to Toombs County in Lyons during a back-and-forth game.  
On Saturday, the Lady Tide fell, 44-20, to Wayne County in Jesup.
“Our defense was not as much an issue in this game,” Lady Tide head coach Kala Hires said. “The girls knew their role. Wayne County is very experienced and very well-coached. Our team struggled with a lot of fundamentals in the game.”
The Lady Tide take on St. Vincent’s Academy at
6 p.m. Dec. 4 in Ludowici in a Region 2-AA contest.
m. Last year, the Saints (1-1) swept the series with Long County, winning the first game, 31-23, and the second game, 43-31.   The game will be important to both teams as it is an early Sub-Region 2B-AA contest.
