Liberty falls in regular-season finale

Liberty County’s regular season came to an end Tuesday with a 16-1 loss at home to Wayne County.
The Panthers (5-15 overall, 2-4 in Region 3-AAAAA) were scheduled to begin the playoffs Thursday against Burke County in Waynesboro. Results were unavailable at press time.
Lady Panther third baseman Gabriella Anthony scored the lone Lady Panther run in the bottom of the first inning to make the score 2-1 Wayne County.
The Lady Yellow Jackets (16-2, 5-1) led 10-1 at the end of the second and added six more runs in the third to end the game.
In the third inning, errors by the home team allowed Wayne County to rack up six more runs for the win.
