Liberty County riders placed in 22 different classes and brought home blue ribbons from eight classes at the 2013 Georgia Fall Classic on Nov. 23 in Perry.
Eighteen show barns from across the state brought more than 150 riders and 120 horses to the event, which is the final show of the season for the American Saddle Bred Horse Association of Georgia. Riders competed in more than 93 different classes. Liberty County was represented by Bluff Creek Stables of Colonels Island, Dixie Stables of Allenhurst and Gravel Hills Farms of Flemington.
Riders at this year’s event not only were competing for the Georgia Fall Classic blue ribbons, they also were competing for the American Saddlebred Horse Association of Georgia’s High Points Award. These awards are given each year at the ASHAG annual awards banquet to the horse and rider with the most cumulative points from each show throughout the year. High points are given to each horse and rider for every ribbon.
The competition had three contenders from the Louisville Kentucky World Championships and two horse/riders from the Western division were at the Royal, which is in Toronto, Canada.
“This year was exceptional, as it has continued to increase in attendance year after year,” show director Robin Bowen said. “This year was especially exciting as it was held in the indoor area at the Agricultural Center.”
