Eleven athletes from the Long County 4-H Club recently competed in the Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education (SAFE) archery meet at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton.
Mackenzie Pattison earned second place in the recurve bow division.  Also representing the club were Katherine Madorma, Gavin Allen, McKinliegh Allen, Justin Bustle, Harley Friel, Lyndie Groover, Dustin Miller, Cody Groover, Sierra Evans and Hawkeye Lynn.
The weather made for a challenging setting.
“It was cold, wet and miserable shooting conditions … in all my years coaching the 4-H archery team, I have never seen so much drive and dedication as I did this past weekend (by the students),” said Lisa Overbey, Long County 4-H associate and coach.
