The season ended for the Long County High School girls’ soccer team last Friday in Eatonton, where the Lady Tide fell to Putnam County, 6-0, in the first round of the state playoffs.
With the loss, the Lady Tide posted a final overall record of 10-5 and an 8-4 Region 2-AA mark.
Though the season didn’t end on a high note, the Lady Tide made the state playoffs in only the program’s second year.
The Lady Tide will lose senior Kelsey Higgason to graduation, but they project to have 12 players back next year for their senior seasons. Alyssa Anderson, Harley Dawson, Samantha Garcia, Taylor Poole, Teresa Chihuahua, Armarilli Palacios, Emily Morey, Jennifer Hernandez, Michelle Garcia, Hannah Golden, Xena Lewallen and Kaylyn McEwin are the current juniors slated to return.
Alexis Marrero, Katie Estill, Kylee Proffitt, Nakia Hunter and Megan Higgason are among other notable underclassmen who should be on the 2015 roster.
