Liberty County linebacker Raekwon McMillan is listed as being No. 1 in Georgia for tackles this year, according to maxpreps.com.
McMillan tallied 128 solo tackles and 23 assists, topping Memorial Day’s Tae Singleton and Gordon Lee’s Bryce Bailey for total tackles. Bailey and Singleton both tallied 150 this year.
Panther Jeremy Caldwell-Fabergas made the top-50 list, coming in at No. 32 with 95 total tackles, 70 of which were solos.
McMillan is 34th in the state in sacks with seven for - 48 yards. McMillan has offers from some of the top BCS Schools but has listed his top choices as Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, USC and Alabama.
On Nov. 7, Rivals.com identified McMillan as their first five-star prospects for the 2014 class.
According to a Rivals.com scouting report, McMillan has the ideal size for a middle linebacker but what pushes him to the forefront is his willingness to accept coaching and work on his deficiencies. Rivals call McMillan the elite prospect in the middle.
“McMillan is a huge linebacker who is excellent in space, has terrific instincts regarding which lane to fill and what angle to take, and he has the length and quickness to cover a lot of ground. McMillan is a rare, jumbo-sized backer with quick-twitch ability as well as the ability to drop in coverage and flip his hips. He is also a very good pass rusher, sheds blockers well to make plays in the running and passing game, and creates turnovers consistently,” Mike Farrell, national recruiting analyst with Rivals.com wrote.
McMillan has also had time on the offensive side of the ball this year, scoring nine touchdowns off 49 carries that yielded 316 yards.
