The first time the Panthers took to the gridiron against the Effingham County Rebels, Liberty County High School earned an 18-12 win over visiting Effingham County. 
The Rebels (2-8) returned the favor Friday night, knocking off Liberty County (2-8) 36-20 in Springfield.
Shadrach Thornton led LCHS with 24 carries for 175 yards and three touchdowns. He also connected on six of nine passes for 84 yards. Sam Carter chipped in nine carries for 65 yards and Andre Haggray carried the ball six times for 55 yards. Quarterback JJ Grant ran three times for 28 yards and completed one pass in four attempts for 11 yards. Alton Sapp caught three passes for 50 yards for LCHS, which piled up 428 yards.
