S. Ga. Kings win Augusta tournament

The South Georgia Kings seventh-grade basketball team won the Power Surge Tip Off Super Regional in Augusta March 23-25, going 4-0 and taking the championship trophy.
Head coach Shane Smith and assistant Richard LeCounte said the team played well, despite limited practice time and missing a starting guard.
The SGK beat Augusta Metro, 63-50, in game one. Richard LeCounte III led scoring with 18 points. Devonte Hill added 14, Christion Brooks nine, Sam Roberts eight, Tracy White six, Tyreon Freeman three, Traveon Freeman two and Antonio Ramos two.
In game two, SGK beat Brava TPP, 74-50. LeCounte III led the team again with 39 points. Brooks chipped in 12, Tyreon Freeman seven, Hill six, White four, Ramos four and David Miller three.
In the semi-finals, the boys beat Augusta Metro Elite, 82-77. LeCounte led the boys again with a game high 42 points. Brooks added 14, Hill eight, White six, Tyreon Freeman five, Ramos four and Will Richardson three.
In the championship, SGK beat host Team Power, 83-62. LeCounte had 34 points, Hill 18, White 10, Brooks five, Miller four, Freeman four, Richardson two, Roberts two, Ramos two and Reiken Donalson two.
Smith called it “a great way to kick off the 2012 AAU season.”
