The Scott’s All*Stars’ seventh-grade basketball team posted a 2-2 record at the Amateur Athletic Union National Tournament held in July 10-14 in Hampton, Va.
Team founder and coach Marcus Scott IV said he considers the AAU circuit to be the largest and most competitive among the youth basketball associations. Last season, his team finished the year ranked seventh in the nation.
This year, his seventh-grade team placed first in its pool at the tournament, which was a first for his program’s history.
However, Scott said he was a bit disappointed they ended up 2-2. The All*Stars played teams from Virginia, New York and West Virginia, and while they played well, the All*Stars just couldn’t close in two close loses.
After the tournament, the team visited Hampton University.
The All*Stars are in Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the United States Basketball Association National Tournament. The tournament runs until Saturday.
The All*Stars will be back home in time for their annual recognition banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday at Club Stewart.
