The Southeast Georgia Report Top 20 Middle School All-Star Tournament was held Feb. 25.
The event drew a sizeable crowd of players and spectators, according to organizer Jessie Fleming.
The South teams ended up winning three out of four games, Fleming said.
“Kids came from Liberty, Appling County, Pierce, Statesboro, Savannah, Jesup, Brunswick, Portal, Pembroke and Richmond Hill,” he said. “It was a great group of young up-and-coming talent.”
The ninth-grade boys MVP award went to South player Trevon Scott.
For the girls, two players were chosen as co-MVPs, Makayla Jackson, representing the South, and Alexis Bolds.
The eighth-grade boys MVP award went to Zachary Moore.
Latia Fleming and Shania Elderidge shared the girls award.
