Mother’s Day hoops tourney starts Friday
Scott’s All-Stars will host the fifth annual Mother’s Day basketball tournament Friday and Saturday at the Liberty County YMCA and Midway Middle School. Several local teams will be competing in the tournament. The championship game is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at Midway Middle School.

Relay for Life hoops tournament planned
The Connection Church’s Mission Possible Team is hosting a basketball tournament May 16-17 at the Shuman Recreation Center to benefit Liberty County’s Relay for Life.
The fee is $150 per team.

Annual Walk-a-Thon to take place May 17
Seven Ministries of Liberty County has set its Jackie Gilliard-Henderson Memorial Scholarship Walk-a-Thon for May 17.
Funds raised will provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Liberty County’s public high schools.
Additional funds will support the organization’s other programs, such as its drug-and-alcohol ministry and programs for youths and the elderly.
Participants will meet at 6:30 a.m., and the walk starts at 7.
Walkers 21 and older are asked to pay $20; those 16-20 are asked to pay $10. There is no fee for younger children.
