Spring sports athletes at Long County High School honored

Blue Tide athletes in track, golf and baseball were recognized recently for their accomplishments at the Long County High School spring sports banquet.
In girls’ track and field, Brittany Smiley earned the newcomer of the year award, Ashley McElroy won the most outstanding runner award and Derissa Crawford took the most improved track and field performer award. Taking home multiple awards for the girls team was Kicha May and Kirshana Calhoun. May won the most outstanding field performer award and the most outstanding track and field performer award, while Calhoun won the Blue Tide award and the academic achievement award.
For the boys’ team, Brandon Adkins earned multiple honors by taking home the most outstanding runner award and the most outstanding track and field performer award. Delonte Singleton won the newcomer of the year award, DeOnte’ Ellis won the most outstanding field performer award, Dorian Adkins won the most improved track and field performer award, Fred Nelson won the Blue Tide award and Reginald Campbell won the academic achievement award.
For the baseball team Chase Rogers won the defensive performance of the year award, Shawn Mills won the pitching performance of the year award, Shane Deloach won the most improved player of the year award, Clay Strickland won the junior varsity offensive performance of the year award,

Ryan McGowan won the JV defensive performance of the year award and Austin Simmons won the coaches award.  Taking home multiple honors were Luke Golden and Gage Kasperian.  Kasperian won the JV pitching performance of the year award and the JV academic achievement award, while Golden won the offensive performance of the year award and the varsity academic achievement award.
Savannah Hreha won the best average score award for the girls golf team. Ciara Frisbie won the academic achievement of the year award and Dustin Spell won the best average score award for the boys’ team.
Nick Thompson was presented with a plaque for outstanding dedication and service beyond the call of duty by the athletic department.
