Tide fall to No. 1 team

Long County fell to No. 1 Appling County, 11-1, Tuesday in Baxley.
The loss was the fifth in a row for the Blue Tide, dropping their overall record to 3-7 and their 2-AA Region record to 0-5. 
For the Pirates, who topped this week’s Prepcountry.com coaches poll, the win kept them undefeated at 10-0. 
Currently, the top four teams in 2-AA are Appling on top with a 5-0 mark, followed by Pierce County who is 5-1 (8-2 overall), Brantley County at 2-1 (5-3) and Jeff Davis at 3-2 (5-5).
Today, Long County is on the road again to take on McIntosh County at
6 p.m.  According to Prepcountry.com, the Buccaneers are 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the region.
