Bradwell Institute still is looking for its first win at renovated Olvey Field. The Groves Rebels are just looking for their first win, period.
Tonight, the spell will be broken for one team as the Rebels visit Olvey. Kickoff is at 7:30.
According to the Georgia High School Football Historian Association, the Tigers are 24-8-1 against Groves, but BI (1-8 overall, 1-5 in region) lost to Groves (0-9, 0-6) the past two seasons.
The Tigers need to be mindful that, despite the Rebels’ winless record, Groves quarterback Jessie Robbins is the league leader in passing with 499 yards and four touchdowns, according to maxpreps.com.
After serving a one-game suspension for arguing with a referee two weeks ago during the Richmond Hill game, BI coach Jim Walsh will be back on the sidelines tonight.
The team is going to honor its senior players, cheerleaders and band members during halftime.
BI also was going to have a ceremony retiring the high school jersey and number of Gary Guyton.
However, Guyton signed a contract Tuesday with the Dallas Cowboys and is preparing for Sunday’s game against Philadelphia.
It is unknown whether the school still is planning the ceremony. Calls to the athletic office were not returned by press time.
