Long County native Cassandra Pelton recently won two archery competitions.
She won the region championship for USA Archery Indoor Nationals on Feb. 22 in Snellville and the regional championship for U.S. Collegiate Archery Indoor Nationals on Feb. 28 in Statesboro.
Pelton is working toward making the 2016 U.S. Olympic archery team. The Olympic trials in archery will be this summer.
Pelton is the daughter of Donald and Lynn Pelton, who both teach in Long County schools.
Long County High School Athletic Director Karen Swindell praised the Olympic hopeful.
“We are proud of Cassandra, and we are all cheering for her to represent Ludowici in the next Olympics,” Swindell said.
