On Saturday the Long County High School boys’ basketball team beat Benedictine Military School 64-57 to claim the 2-AA Region Championship.

The Blue Tide were up early but fell behind by six points to start the final period.  Led by Perrell Brisbane, Long County went on a 17-3 run to win the game in front of a home-town crowd in Ludowici.

Brisbane led the Blue Tide in scoring putting up 27 points for the game, 10 of which came in the fourth period.

For the Lady Tide the tournament ended in despair.  Playing in the consolation game against Saint Vincent’s Academy, the Lady Tide had hopes of at least finishing the tournament in the top three.

But on Saturday the Long County girls just couldn’t find their groove as they fell to the Saints 59-39.  In the ladies championship game Vidalia High School took home the trophy beating Jeff Davis 39-29.
