On Tuesday, the Long County High School baseball team hosted Brantley County in a 2-AAA Region contest. Despite a game effort the Blue Tide were defeated by the Herons 11-3. With the loss, Long County fell to 4-18 overall and 1-7 in the region, while Brantley County improved their record to 11-6 and 5-3. On Friday, the Blue Tide was back at home again, this time taking on Appling County. The Pirates went into that contest sitting atop the region standings with an impressive 7-1 region record and a 16-7 overall mark.
This week Long County wraps up their regular season as they face Tattnall County and Claxton High School. The Battle Creek Warriors currently post an 8-13 overall record and a 3-5 mark in the region; that game is on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 PM. The Blue Tide face Claxton on Wednesday in non-region action, with the Tigers bringing in a 5-14 record. That game starts at 5:00 PM. The Claxton game is also Senior Night for Long County with Deondrae Volcy, Jeffery Edmondson, Joey Kuzlik, Matt Strickland, and Gary Poppell being recognized.
