Athletes from Long County High School showed their support for reading recently by reading to the kids at Smiley Elementary School.

The student-athletes’ part of "Read for the Record," was reading "The Snowy Day", whose central character, Peter, is based on a little boy from Liberty County. The book was written in 1962 by Ezra Jack Keats, and won the Caldecott Award in 1963.

Cross country: Nick Moody, Kyle Sapwell and Brandon McManus

Boy’s track: Kendrick King, Brandon Akins and Anthony Roberts

Girl’s track: Ruth Francis, Raven Rose and Naomi Quadalupe

Cheerleading: Ariel Davis, Lexi Flournoy and Shaquella Nelson

Baseball: Clint Kennedy, Carlton Milton and Luke Golden

Girls basketball: Shamika Richardson, Jameka Boyd and Laura Clary

Boys basketball: Chris Larochester, Jaylan Futch and Jamal Anderson

Football: Jacob Turner, Marcus Williams and Dante Wright

Golf: Kimber Sapp
