Long County holds onto 2nd in region

The Long County boys’ basketball team beat Bryan County 65-53 in Pembroke on Friday in a big Region 2-AA game.

The game went back and forth all night. With the loss, the Bryan County fell to 9-7 overall and 5-4 in the region.

Saturday, the Blue Tide were back at home, taking on 3-AAAAA opponent Ware County (7-10). The game went down to the wire with Long County leading late, but the Gators pulled out the victory 71-68 with a 3-point shot as time expired.

After the weekend action, Long County has a 14-5 overall record and a 7-2 region mark. It currently holds second place in region standings, two games behind Vidalia, which is 16-2 overall and 9-0 in the region.

Tuesday, the Blue Tide were back on the hardcourt against Jeff Davis County (9-9 overall and 4-4 in the region) in Ludowici. Results game were not available by press time.

Friday, Long County is at home again for another region contest against Groves. The Rebels have been struggling, as they bring in a 1-15 overall record and a 1-8 region mark. The game begins at 7:30.
