Long County hosts soccer playoffs Wednesday

The Long County High School boys and girls soccer teams will host the squads from Jefferson County High School Wednesday in the first round of the AAA state playoffs.

The Blue Tide go into the tournament as the 2-AAA Region champions, posting a 12-3 overall record and 8-2 in the region. They also are currently ranked as the No. 7 AAA team in the state, according to Eurosport.com.

The Blue Tide face a Dragon team that ended its year with an 8-5 record, but won three of their last four games.

The Lady Tide go into the playoffs at 8-7 overall and 7-3 in the region. They too did well in the region standings, finishing the year as the number two team in the standings. Despite having to travel in their first game, the Lady Dragons bring in a 10-3-1 record into the playoffs.

The girls game is at 5 p.m. with the boys following. Tickets are $10 for everyone older than 6.
